Fishing Hole Scene

Lesson 3, Frame 1

First a light source & background shade was made using the Tonal Applicator stamp. Light Blue was applied to the stamp & was repeatedly tapped--always from the outside edge of the card toward the lightest part of the glow. After several applications of blue a slight tonal transition began. On the outside edge of the card the ink was condensed the most because of the outside-to-in stamping motion. A yellow-green was used to glaze the lower half of the scene and pink at the top--very light tones of the two hues were used to create subtlety. Darker tones of blue around the edges framed off the card.

Lesson 3, Frame 2

The suggestion of the ripples on the water's surface was made w/the Water Pattern stamp. Again, starting w/light blue, dabbing from the outside edge in, the H20 pattern worked from dark (edge) to light (the light source). Darker tone was added to the W.P. & not dabbed in as close to the bright region. Some ink was then applied to a paper towel and dry streaked across the card in an attempt to create a mirror--like surface. Before streaking, most of the ink's moisture was removed so as to prevent smearing. Jumping Bass w/Fly Lg. was positioned.

Lesson 3, Frame 3

The Leafless Limbs lg. was stamped in dark colors to add depth & contrast. The tree was colored only 1/2 & positioned in the water. It's reflection is the same image stamped upside down in a lighter tone. An extra fine white paint pen added the highlights & sparkles. ŠKJN 1994
