The Lone Oak

"The Oak" 1997. Dye based colours, Studio 2 pens, Glossy card stock, White Opaque.

The lone oak rose above the rock so many years ago. It's crooked limbs bent in the direction of the gusty onshore winds. We often wondered if it had been planted there as it was so out of place. How could it have survived it's infancy when it's roots were not yet planted firm? How could the seed germinate in, practically, bare rock? Was it an ancient marker to signify the meeting of the two great winds? Was it the place where those of the earth became one with the sky?
