Lesson: Spring Hillside
The explosion of Spring lights. 4.25" x 5.5" glossy card stock

Grass Texture was stamped in black in multiple impressions. I wanted this to appear as though it was a hill so I stamped the images at an angle

Oak Tree Lg was stamped into the grassy texture. I wanted the trunks to disappear into the grass so I wiped off the bottom of the trunks before I made my impressions. The trees were stamped in a Marvy #1 Black.

Oak Tree (medium) was stamped in the background. The smaller version was used here to create the illusion of depth in the scene. Image stamped in black.

Ranger Sea Shells "Sea Grass" was sponged on to the grassy hillside. Some areas were left the white of the paper to create variation and lighting in the scene. Don't tone out everything.

Marvy #52 "Yellow Green" was added to the grass.

Marvy #14 "Turquoise" was applied to the grass. In this tone, the values are getting a little darker so use it more sparingly than you did the two previous colors.

Marvy #4 "Green" was added to the select areas in the grass.

Ranger Sea Shells "Ocean Aqua" was applied to the top corner of the scene where the sky is. It's upside down here in this photo as that's the way I apply ink on to my scenes. If it's easier to turn the card and to apply ink that way, that's the way I do it. Keep the coloring within your comfort range.

A deep and rich range of greens.

A ripped paper towel provides a jagged edge irregular mask which is just what I want for the Reeds 067B stamp. Impressions were made at a variety of angles and stamped in black.

The mask was raised to another level of the scene and more impressions with the Reeds were made. These impressions add texture and depth and crisp imagery into an otherwise amorphous field of tone.

To repeat the reeds shape, but in a larger version, Reeds Lg was stamped in the foreground for depth.

Marvy #25 "Bottle Green" was added for yet another value around the base of the trees.

Gel Pens in pastel green and pink are applied for shimmer and texture. These dots represent light reflecting off the grasses, wildflowers, and highlights. Also, Flock was added to the upper left corner of the scene in the small sky space.

Colorbox "Frost White" pigment ink was applied to the meadow in a couple areas in very thin transluscent layers using a Q-Tip or cotton swab. This thin layer of pigment ink represents a slight hovering morning mist or fog.

The beauty of the Spring.
