Lesson: Totem Flames
The oranges and the reds. 4.25" x 5.5" glossy card stock

Ledge was stamped using Marvy #1 "Black". First it was centered and then it was inked and stamped to both the right and left side of the initial impression. The key is to overlap your previous impression. No masking is needed.

This fun stamp from Viva Las Vegastamps was stamped in black on top of the Ledge.

Full Moon Lg and Solar Eclipse were stamped in black.

Tonal Applicator Rays was stamped with the tip pointing towards the solar eclipse in black.

My color range is designed here with colors ranging from yellow to orange to red. Arrange your colors like this before you start toning your scenes. It makes it easier to see the range of values and to make things go faster when you're in the process of blending colors.

Marvy #5 "Yellow" was applied to the scene using a Colorbox Stylus Tool.

Marvy #13 "Ochre" was streaked into the sky and blended on the rocks. The sky streaks are done in a direction from the outside of the card towards the solar eclipse.

Marvy #7 "Orange" was added in the same direction as the Ochre.

Marvy #65 "Cherry" was streaked into the scene. I used a lot of the side of the Stylus Tool foam pad here as I didn't want a wide application of this darker color.

Marvy #6 "Brown" was blended into the scene. I love this color. It gives a smoky essence to a variety of color schemes. When things start getting a little too bright I add this color and it cuts the brightness but retains the richness of the area.

Marvy #18 "Dark Brown" was streaked into the sky.

Leafless Limbs Lg was stamped to each side of the totem in black.

This photo is here to point out a lighting direction tip. In this scene, the light is coming from the Solar Eclipse area for the most part. With this in mind, I created a shadow on the near side of the totem that extends away from the Eclipse. The reinforces the idea of light direction in a scene.

Here I'm masking off the ledge as I wanted to stamp impressions of Leafless Limbs to appear as if it was on the far side of the ledge.

Gel pen details using white and gold are added into the sky. I reinforced the wavy pattern of the Tonal Applicator Flames imagery.

Uggg.
