Lesson: These Eyes
5.5" x 8.5" glossy card stock

Eyes were stamped in black. The edge of the stamp was blotted and most of the ink removed before making the impression. Cloud Space was stamped several times in black to surround the eyes. and Rocky Peaks Sm., Cracked Earth Lg., and Spooky Branch were stamped in black. The branch was stamped a second time but upside down with the stumps matching up to create a shadow.

Marvy #1 "Black" was applied to the scene using a Colorbox Stylus Tool. Use a light and repetitive sponging method to layer tone on to the scene. Avoid heavy handed applications that might make the edges of the sponge imprint. You want very light marks that can be built up slowly and, thus, carefully.

A series of warm tone values were added to the scene using the sponging method mentioned above. Distress Inks and Marvy brown tones were layered on to the scene in a light-to-dark progression. Some areas were left light to create a full value range.

White pigment ink was applied to the scene with a cotton swab. It was used in the clouds, mountains, and the base of the tree.

A white gel pen was used to apply highlights for the final touch.
