Spotlights by Kevin Nakagawa, CA 2002

8" x 5.5" glossy card stock. Scenes executed with dye based inks applied with Tonal Applicator 084E and Colorbox Stylus Tools.

Spotlights: Direct your light with the use of shadow & tonal changes.

See your scenes as stages as opposed to snapshots of life. In the lands of your creation, you act as both the set and lighting director. In your sets, you create the ideal conditions to direct the viewer's eye. Where do you want them to start? What visual path do you wish them to travel? To arrive? In the first scene, breaks in the Altocumulus Clouds serve as spotlights that cast warm light down over craggy peaks to the waters surface and an awaiting flock. In the second scene, a Spiral Galaxy swirls and sends a soft light over billowing clouds to illuminate the lone midnight rider. Lights. Stamps. Action!
