Old Mill on Round by Kevin Nakagawa, CA 2006
Old Mill Lg. on 3.5" x 3.5" Stampbord Round.
2) Apply a range of blue values on to the Stampbord starting with the lightest value and work through the range. I generally kept the center fairly light and the perimeter dark.
3) Using a scratch knife, scratch out highlights on the top surfaces of imagery such as rocks and the rooftop. Highlight "nicks" were applied to the trees and grass. Keep your water flowing by taking your cues from the stamp design and follow the flowing lines with a light scratching into the water (as seen in the flowing lines at the base of the creek).
4) Snowfall, stars, and highlight white dots were put into the scene by positioning the scratch knife vertically and doing a turn. This will remove a small layer of the colored ink and reveal the white chalk underneath. But, be careful not to press too hard while doing your turn as it's easy to dig down to the wood board backing revealing brown.
5) White pigment ink was used on some of the dots to illuminate them by making them appear as if they were glowing.
