Winters Wind by Kevin Nakagawa, CA 2007
3.5" x 5" Oval Stampbord. Dye Based inks.
Note: A range of blue dye based inks were applied to the Stampbord with the darkest of blues reserved for the perimeter of the oval. Leave the center of the
oval with only the lighter of the blue values used. This will create the illusion of a glowing surface. The woman found on the
unmounted Symmetry sheet 4 was stamped on the board using black dye based ink. Highlights were scratched into the woman bringing out light areas
using a
scratch knife. The matting was with light powder blue and silver metalic papers with streaks of
black dye based inks applied to them using a Colorbox Stylus Tool. The metallic papers used here
are slightly resistent to the dye based inks so it takes a little while to soak into the paper so the graceful streaks came easy without leaving heavy marks.
When applied the ink seemed to dry very very light. That being said, it took quite a few streaks/coats of the black ink in the areas where the streaks seem the
darkest. In the end, these streaks were to represent the wind in her flowing hair.
