Note: This is really a great piece that Norice sent to us. It's really elegant and is multi-faceted. The colors go so well together and the overall is one of the more balanced pieces that I've seen. There's a weaving in and out of the positive and negative shapes with the various backgrounds. It says value (dark/light) is "relative". I asked Norice some questions about how she did this card. Here's what she said:
I asked her about the colors in the shrink plastic scene at the bottom of the composition. The colors really struck me. [Norice] It's something that I've been demonstrating at the store. Since the color intensifies when you shrink it down, you don't have to work the colors.
Kevin: The little scene on the shrink plastic is really cool in itself. It kind of draws me right in. How did you color it?
[Norice] The shrink plastic was stamped with the permanent ink and tonal applicated with the Printworks Outliner pads (lavender, imperial blue & burgundy).
Kevin: Also, what inks did you use on the Oak Branch for the other segments?
[Norice] I used the Color It bronze pad to stamp the branch on the black paper. And if I recall, I used the "mirror image" stamp from Rubber Stampede to make the resist/reversing image of the oak branch. This process was done by inking the mirror image with bronze then stamping a clean oak branch to remove the ink. I then inked the branch with a dye based black pad and stamped again on the mirror image. Then the mirror image was finally stamped onto a paper to give it a white and black reversed image. I hope you understood what I just wrote.
