Stampscapes Domino Keychains

Prepare domino by soaking it in bleach over night to deglaze it. This will remove the shiny finish on the domino. Drill a hole in the domino for the keychain. Use a 1/8 inch ceramic/glass drill bit to drill the hole with. A drill press and vise makes drilling the holes very easy, but if you are careful and drill slowly, a standard electric hand drill or dremel will work. The top of the domino is side without the dots.

Sponge a nice, deep layer of Pinata Sunbright Yellow ink on the top and all four sides of the domino. The Pinata inks will dry fairly quickly and you may have to reink your sponge a few times. Let air dry or speed dry with a heat gun.

Apply a few drops of the Pinata Claro Extender on a clean area of the sponge and then put a few drops of the Pinata Calabaza Orange ink on top of the Claro Extender on the sponge. Sponge the ink on the top and all four sides of the domino. The Claro Extender will help to create a mottled/marbled look. Let air dry or speed dry with a heat gun.

Lay Comet 236E on the table with the rubber die facing you. Ink up the stamp with Staz-On Blazing Red ink. Position the domino over the stamp with the top of the domino facing the inked stamp. Press domino top firmly on inked stamped and gently lift domino from stamp. Heat set to dry.

The Comet 236E image may also be stamped on all four sides of the domino if desired. Heat set ink to dry. To create the backing for the domino, lay the domino on the back of a sheet of sticker paper (also called Crack and Peel) and trace around it. Self-adhesive Sparkle Paper was used for the sample. Be sure to mark the hole from the domino on the sticker paper. Trim the sticker paper to fit on the back of the domino and use a 3/8 inch round hole punch to punch the hole which was marked from the domino. Remove backing from the sticker paper, align the hole in the sticker paper with the hole in the domino and press sticker paper to back of domino.

When using Pinata inks on the dominos a final sealant is not necessary unless desired for additional protection. If a sealant is desired, the following "wet sealants" may be brushed on the top of the finished domino at this time: Aleene's Laminate It, Liquid Laminate by Beacon or Gloss Varnish Medium. If sealant is used, brush on 2-3 coats using a soft paintbrush and very light pressure. Allow each coat to dry before applying another. Allow sealant to dry before proceeding. Edge the domino with a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen and let dry. Thread the keychain through the hole and you are finished!!! Some other samples of Stampscapes domino keychains are:
