STAMPSCAPES UNIVERSITY LIVE ONLINE INSTRUCTION
COME STAMP WITH ME! Live small group or private online Workshops via Zoom
If you would like to have live online instruction, these classes (with the inventor of the scenic stamping genre, Kevin Nakagawa) are now available wherever you are around the world. Requirements: Zoom meeting capability and the specifics for each class. If you haven't used Zoom before and are unaware if you have the capability, inquire and we can try a test meeting.

How it works: A Zoom meeting will be scheduled at which time you will be notified by email with a link for that meeting. All classes below will be taught ongoing based on demand. I'll mix up some starting times so that they can be convenient for all. Kevin will be in touch with everyone signed up for a class to make sure you have all the supplies you'll need before the class.

STAMPSCAPES 1: BASIC CLASS
Learn the basics of composition and how to blend your imagery together into seamless scenes. We'll go over coloring with dyes inks and applications for very basic lighting schemes. We're going to keep the color scheme minimal for this class so we can get in some good coloring repetitions during class but how to choose your colors and apply them in order will be covered so that post-class, you'll have your strategies down.

Supply List:
This class might be taught with different sets eventually but Nature Sheet #8" will be the main one you'll need.
Card Stock (coated): Matte, Silk, or Glossy cut down into quarter sized pieces (4.25" x 5.5"). Have 8-10 pieces ready. If you need some card stock, let me know.
Black dye based ink pad or an ink like StazOn. You'll need an ink that will dry for you on the surface you're stamping on by air or heat setting.
A selection of blue value dye based inks (light, medium, dark). If you have a re-inker for your light blue, that would be great but not required.
Optional: Selection of different dye ink pad (or marker) colors: pale pink, green, blue, etc.
2 hours $15
04/23/2022 12-2pm PST: CLASS FULL (MORE DATES WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON)
Already have Nature Set #8? Choose this option:

Need Nature Set #8? Choose this option for Stampscapes 1 and the set (Unmounted is untrimmed and in sheet form to be used with a temporary mounting system. Cling stamps are pre-trimmed and ready to use.):

STAMPSCAPES 2: VISUAL DEPTH and LIGHTING
In this class we'll build on what was learned in the Stampscapes Basic Class. We'll push lighting and depth by manipulating values in a simple way. We'll add minimal finishing touches but will mainly focused on learning how to use multi-value impressions and coloring to evoke mood. STAMPSCAPES 1 isn't completely necessary to take this class but knowledge of the basics is a good idea.

Supply List:
Nature Set #6 and Nature Set #8 will be used.
Card Stock (coated): Matte, Silk, or Glossy cut down into quarter sized pieces (4.25" x 5.5"). Have 8-10 pieces ready.
optional: Use some of your uncolored stamp sketches from the Stampscapes Basic Class.
Black dye based ink pad. You can also use StazOn but have the dye black too.
A selection of various values of hues such as blues, greens, sunset colors, etc. You don't need a huge amount but have 2-3 values of 2-3 colors.
White .7mm acrylic paint pen or white gel pen
White pigment ink pad. Any brand but Brilliance is a good brand if you don't have one and need to buy one as you'll be able to use the Brilliance in future metallic surface classes should you wish to.

STAMPSCAPES 3: SKYSCAPES
Nothing can create an evocative setting for a scene more than skies. In this class, we'll learn how to use your sky imagery in a nice, graceful, and seamless fashion with easy techniques. We'll cover stamp placement, blending, color schemes, and concepts of using your sky figures for the light sources in your scenes and how that lighting can affect the natural environment in your scenes. No prerequisite class needed to take this class.

Supply List:
Cloud Cumulus 018E (sold individually or comes in Nature Set #8)
Various Stampscapes sky figures is good. Images such as Nature Set 22 or 24. Individual sky stamps are fine.
Card Stock (coated): Matte, Silk, or Glossy cut down into quarter sized pieces (4.25" x 5.5"). Have 8-10 pieces ready.
Black dye based ink pad or an ink like StazOn.
White .7mm acrylic paint pen or gel pen
A selection of various values of dye ink hues such as blues, greens, sunset colors, etc. You don't need a huge amount but have 2-3 values of 2-3 colors. Any brands.
A few tree stamps. There's the pine trees from Nature Set #6 and #8 that would work well. Leafless Pines 369C, 370E, and/or 371G provide a nice contrast to the full trees.

STAMPSCAPES 4: FOIL SCENES
Foils are a very dynamic surface to use in scenes. In this class, we'll learn how to apply inks to this non porous surface and how to layer imagery to build depth.

Supply List:
Recollections Jewel Toned multi pack found at Michael's. Then, if you like gold and/or silver foil, these are on Amazon and sold in packs.
Have 2 pieces of the dark blue sheets cut to 1/4 sheet at 4.25" x 5.5". Tsukineko Brilliance pigment ink. Graphite Black and Moonlight White. This is a specific line of pigment inks with a fast drying component in them that allows them to dry on non porous surfaces. Any regular pigment ink will never dry even with heat setting unless we emboss them. I would recommend full sized pads and re-inkers as you tend to go through a lot of ink when using the inks in this technique. Brilliance pads can be found here: https://www.imaginecrafts.com/brilliance

STAMPSCAPES 5: DETAILS AND LIGHTING
Finishing touches on various techniques and media can really extend the visual range of a scene by adding that sparkling touch of highlights and the soft illuminated lighting representative of visual atmosphere. I apply these touches in 90% of my scenes. We'll add fog, soft image lighting, and light beams.

Supply List:
No specific sets needed but have some pre-stamped and colored scenes on any type of card stock where you haven't applied any of these finishing touches such as white pigment ink and acrylic paint pen detailing. Kevin will contact you ahead of time to see some scenes that you'll be able to finish with the effects in class.

Any type of white pigment ink can be used but Tsukineko Brilliance Moonlight White pigment ink is the most universal. Another brand and type could work but if you're applying it to something like a foil or non porous surface, the Brilliance is better for that as we can heat set it immediately and it sticks to more surfaces. I would recommend full sized pads and re-inkers as you tend to go through a lot of ink when using the inks in this technique. Brilliance pads can be found here: https://www.imaginecrafts.com/brilliance
.7mm white acrylic paint pen.
100% cotton balls and 100% cotton swabs (synthetic ones don't work)

NOTE: These workshops are to support the Stampscapes line of rubber stamps. Use of pirated/stolen designs and sold by different companies will not be supported in these classes. If you have Stampscapes designs in clear stamp form, those have been illegally made and infringe on Stampscapes copyright. It's a big problem in this industry and hurts the very existence of small manufacturers that have spent countless hours in the development of their lines and the content to support those lines.
