First , the Old Mill Lg. was positioned in the lower portion of the composition, setting the spacing for what was to surround it. Dark hues were used. The Cloud (cumulus) was then stamped behind the treeline in light blue thrice, with one inking. I wanted the clouds to be soft to the eye so I was careful not to use the stamp while ink was puddled in the image. Wait a minute for the ink to settle if you're using wet pens or pads. The clouds were then masked and the Tall Rock lg. was stamped in the background. Adding further spacing/depth to the scene, Leafless Limb Lg. were placed in the foreground. The trees also helped to frame the composition and "sew" the other images together.
Second, the Tonal Applicator was used to set the "temperature", to add richness, to direct the lighting, and to blend/unify the scene. The first color used was the same light blue as the clouds, then progressively darker blues were added. Glazing the scene with several layers of hue added depth to the color scheme
Third, an Opaque White paint pen was used to bring highlights/sparkle into the scene--tops of rocks, cloud, mill, mountain,
branches and snowfall.
