#184G "BROOKSIDE FALLS"

This was a design that was drawn with it's siblings (Babbling Brook #183G, Brookside Boulders #185G, and Boulders withLichen #205F & #210C). Each one of the designs in this series features the "lichen texture" that, I believe, adds a real sense of richness to the volumes. In the falls I wanted to give the water a sense of motion and grace that would contrast against the heavy and solid rock shapes. At the base of the falls the aim was to create a misty look that would almost indicate the auditory sense of falling water. For an example see Early Morning At The Brook Falls.

#183G "BABBLING BROOK"

This design has depth where Brookside Falls has height. Both go together well as can be seen in Pools of Green or can be used independently. Again, the idea here was texture as well as volume. The trick was where to put the texture and how much, as to avoid individual shapes from blending into one another and thus becoming one continuous mass. Like in "Brookside Falls #184G", the idea of water that was moving was key in how it was to be portrayed against the solid rock forms. I wanted the areas, where the water falls, to be a fly fisherman's idea of the ideal hole and a trout's idea of the ideal feeding place.

#185G "BROOKSIDE BOULDERS"

Where volume meets texture. This is a design where this aspect really came together. This was one of those designs that comes along once in a while where everything seems to come together without effort. The forms seemed to have a sense of grace while still reflecting what they were --heavy, solid, masses covered with crusty lichen. Independant shapes within the overall perimeter shape were the toughest aspects to figure out. Keeping things quiet and peaceful within the form while making a bold statement at the same time was key. The outer shapes of the larger two rocks on the right of the design were bent and altered until the I found the curves I wanted. A really simple design but one of my favorites in the series.

#205F or #210C "BOULDERS WITH LICHEN"
(available in both F and C sizes)

I figured if we had all these waterfalls and rocks done in this lichen-texture spirit, I might want something that would go on a bank that might be on the other side of a lake closest to the viewer. This is a design similiar to Ledge-054F. They work great in terms of their blending ability. You can stamp them in an overlapping fashion and they blend quite seamlessly. Perhaps the best in the entire line when it comes to this aspect. They're designed to blend side by side as well as in a stacking position.
