Stampbord Scratch Knife Kits

These are the foundations for your basic scratchboard (Stampbord) applications. The sharp tip tool and the rounded tool. Scratch Knives or Scrapper Tools, as they're known, are steel nibs that fit into the standard calligraphy pen holders. These nibs are different from dipping pens in that they aren't configured to accept ink. They're different from your art/craft knives like X-Acto in that they aren't as sharp and have a wider edge that is configured for scratching as opposed to cutting. In other words, they're tailor made for doing exactly what we want them to do on scratchboard (Stampbord) surfaces. There are three configurations listed below.

Note: I'm out of stock on these and it's hard for me to place an order directly with Speedball --the manufacturer of these nibs. The nibs are Speedball Scratch Knife #112 (flat pointed one) and the Scratch Knife #113 (more spoon shaped). Sometimes these are sold separately and sometimes they're sold as a pair in a blister pack. If you use these search parameters you can find them on various websites or if you have a well stocked art supply store you can usually find them there. This is the type of nib holder that I like: http://www.dickblick.com/products/speedball-standard-pen-holders/ Just be sure and purchase a nib holder that will fit the nibs. Don't purchase a crow quill dip pen nib holder. Those are too small.
